Scaynes Hill Village

There's been a lot of singing going on in the village recently. Scaynes Hill Community Choir and St Augustine's Primary School Choir are using their voices to entertain and support local organisations.

Scaynes Hill  - a tuneful kind of place!

In September the School Choir was invited to perform at the Cuckfield and Lindfield Rotary Club charity fundraising dinner. The event was in aid of St Peter and St James Hospice and the Chestnut Tree House. Performing to such a large group of adults was a challenge for the children, but they rose to the occasion and their singing was delightful. The Rotary Club were so impressed with the choir's performance that they made a generous donation to the school which will be used to update musical instruments.

The singing continues over the Christmas season. Both choirs will be singing at the WI Christmas Fair on 30th November in the Millennium Hall, Scaynes Hill. The School Choir will perform at 12 noon and the Community Choir at 2.30 pm. There will also be a chance to hear the Community Choir sing at the carol service at St Augustine's Church, Scaynes Hill on Dec 15th at 6 pm.

It's not just the choirs that can sing, on 5th December from 5-7 pm children from the school along with parents, staff and friends will entertain weary commuters at Haywards Heath station with Christmas carols and songs. The event is organised by the Friends of St Augustine's School to raise money for the new school library. If you're a weary commuter returning home, give them a wave and drop some loose change into the buckets!

On a lovely July evening (remember those), the Community Choir sang gospel and pop songs at the Inn on the Green to a full house. It's fair to say that some people came with low expectations of how a "no auditions" community choir might sound, but they left impressed!
