Free education opportunity at Cumnor House school

Posted 26 January 2021

Cumnor House School near Danehill is offering two scholarships covering the entire cost of a child's education at private school for ten years from the age of 8 to 18, including activities such as sport, music, art and DT, as well as school uniform and school trips. They are looking for two children, currently in Year 3 at State Primary School, to join Cumnor in Year 4 from September 2021. The places will be offered to children from families who could never afford to pay for an independent school education, and the deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 16th April. Cycleway to Lindfield - survey of views!

Posted 24 March 2021

There has long been a need for a safe cycling and walking route from Scaynes Hill to Lindfield and this was included in the Neighbourhood Plan. Community infrastructure funding from The Swallows development was specifically designated towards implementing this project but these funds apparently cannot be used to do the necessary feasibility study to select the optimum route. County and Local Parish Councils seem hesitant to promote this project, so a survey of residents views on this is being done. Please can as many people as possible complete the survey and encourage others.  See details

Cycle/walkway survey update

Posted 21 May 2021

Following the tremendous response to the survey, the report was sent to various Councillors and Officers at the various tiers of local government (Parish, District & County Council). The response from these has generally been positive and at a meeting with representatives from Lindfield Rural Parish Council, Mid Sussex County Council and the Sustainability Group it was decided to set up a working party involving the major stakeholders with the remit to try to find a way forward for this scheme.

Theft in Vicarage Lane

Posted 19 July 2021

Be vigilant for criminals targeting parked vehicles. A Toyota parked in Vicarage Lane from 8th to 13th July has had its catalytic converter cut our from the exhaust system, probably at night. Apparently this type of crime is prevalent at the moment and Japanese made cars in particular are being targeted due the quality of their catalytic converters containing high proportion of precious metals. A replacement could cost anything between £500 to £1000!! ?? This incident has been reported to the police but if you see any suspicious activity don't hesitate to contact them.

Cycle/walkway progress

Posted 04 February 2022

Following the success of the survey a steering group made up of our local Councillors at County, District and Parish level together with representatives from the Scaynes Hill Sustainability has been set up to promote a new dedicated cycling & walking path between Scaynes Hill and Lindfield. The group has also been joined by a professional Transport Planner with considerable experience of such schemes and the group has been named Scaynes Hill - Lindfield Active Travel (SHLAT).
